BABIES BABIES BABIES!

I think my curse from last fall is over, I finally have little ones and they are not getting sick and dieing. In fact I have babies coming out my ears! Thursday while I was at work Wildhare's Red Dawn had a litter with Dan Dan, all look to be agouti so more than likely Dan Dan does not carry 'e' like I was hoping. Now I had thought the Dan Dan was 'aa' since all his litters with colored does have been black, does were black and choc, but maybe he is 'Aa' since all these babies look Agouti, or else Red Dawn is 'AA'. Any of you genetic geniuses please feel free to let me know what you think. Here is a pick of Red Dawn's litter the day they were born. Ava's litter that I thought was black and agouti are all black. So she will work very well for my black color project. Hopefully she can soften up the texture on my black Germans, they are form the 06 import and the wool is just to course. You can really tell a difference when you spin and knit it, like night and day the difference between the 06 imports and my older lines. I do not like to spin wool from my black German doe at all, but it does work well for blends. Ava and Doro's litterThe babies out of my agouti doe Bertha are getting big and starting to eat pellets as well. There are a total of 11 in the litter and mom has raised all of them, 2 fawns, 1 tort all 3 I think are does right now, the rest are agouti. All the agouti babies will more than likely be looking for a forever home so if your lookin for a wooler let me know, they are mostly French only being 40%German. Bertha and Doro's litterGod Bless hope you enjoyed all the babies!

Got tomatoes?

This is the tomatoes that came out of our garden today. By this time tomorrow some of them will be juice and some of them will be canned.

Ava had a litter of babies yesterday 9 total lost 1. They are Giant/German and FA/NZ all appear to be black or agouti. Depending on how many agouti babies there are I may try to breed her to my black German buck next to get a Giant/German agouti! Keep the bunns cool and God Bless all of you!!

Back from the mill

My gray Rambouillet Angora blend made it back from the mill last week. It ended up being 1/3 Angora and 2/3 wool, makes a nice soft springy yarn and is very nice to spin! I still have not made up my mind if I will offer some for sale or hog it all to myself. It will make way more hats then I will ever need, I love making hats. Here is a pic of the roving and a skein I have spun. I pray God blesses all of you!

Makin Juice

We are finally getting some tomatoes form the garden so last night Mom and I made juice. If you noticed the juice in this picture is yellow because its from yellow, and yellow and red striped tomatoes. It does not taste that much different than the red and has less acid in it. We also have red and pink tomatoes. The pink one are my favorite they taste sooo good!Red juiceYellow juice. We made 3 3/4 gallons of juice last night. Tonight we will be freezing corn. God Bless!

EGGS!!!

Do you remember the baby chics I got back in April? They are now starting to lay eggs, last night I got 1 pullet egg and tonight I got 2 pullet eggs. The egg in the middle is from my old sexlink hen she is a faithful layer giving an egg most every day. The other 2 eggs are from my pullets. Notice how much smaller the egg on the right is compared to the one on the left? That's because it's a pullet egg, she just now starting to lay unlike the old pro, so her eggs will be smaller. OK I am more than likely the only dork that gets excited over eggs! LOL Hopefully next year I will incubating my own eggs. I did not have much luck this year, my duck eggs never hatched, then I got some eggs on eBay and only one of them hatched and its a rooster. A very expensive rooster! God Bless all of you and have a good night!

More hand spuns

Here is some of the yarns I have been spinning from top to bottom we have Icelandic that I dyed chestnut and burnt orange, 2 skeins of llama I think this could be my new favorite fiber to spin! A small skein of black alpaca, the white is 84%Angora, 1%silk, 15% fine wool, and the last 2 skeins are coopworth. I really need to get busy knitting this year is flying by and it will be Christmas before I know it.My parents went to the Jackson Co fair Saturday afternoon and brought back pics of this tractor painted by one of our neighbors for breast cancer awareness. I thought this was one of the coolest things I have seen in a while. I hope God has sent you all many blessing today, if its raining where you are like it has been here I hope He blessed you with an umbrella. God Bless!

Baby Update

Its been awhile since I posted something for you guys to read sorry about that. How about some baby pics? It looks like my luck is starting to get better after all the mess I had last fall with sick bunnies and loosing babies I am finally getting some little ones and nobody is getting sick!! I believe its over thank God!Dusty's Simba the first fawn German cross born in the barn, he is 32.5% German and a mix of English, French and some New Zealand Red. This little guy does not have a name yet and is 83% German. He to is a little buck but I dont have a single blue in the barn and he may carry 'e' so we will see what he looks like when he gets older for now he stays.
Janet this little doe is out of your Cadbury and I am loving the body type on this little girl. She is the nicest I think out of the litter. I am not sure if she is Tan or Otter though. Another little doe from Cadbury I think my favorite because of the cuteness factor this little girl likes to pose for her picture. She got several different pics taken. Also I love the big head on this one to, I need to check her again to make sure she is a doe but I am pretty sure she is.This is the last of the Cadbury litter another sweet little black doe, also the smallest of the litter but has a very nice body type as well. These little guys were just born July 31, 40% German. Parents are Wildhares D'Oro red and Alea's Dora chestnut agouti. Look more fawns or reds in the this litter! Hope all of you are having good luck with your bunnies and getting lost of babies! God Bless!
