Oh how I have neglected all my readers! Its have been forever since I have posted anything. I have really enjoyed the winter so far here in Indiana the temps for the most part have been warmer and not too many freezing days or to much snow at all. How nice it is not to have to bust water dishes and tanks all time!

Today we had our 2nd Saturday Spin in and Hoosier Heartland Alpacas in Seymour IN. I took along some Chestnut Giant Angora I carded up the night before. I have been on an angora spinning binge this week and spun a little over 8 oz of pure angora. I typically dont spin a hole lot of pure angora I have certain colors I am "going to spin" but the sit in my stash forever and I end up selling them. I decided it was time to get busy and spin them up myself. Here is a pic of 2 I have spun so far.

On the left is the second clip from a Smoke Pearl French Angora. She was between coats so it is mostly just a creamy off white. The right is my Chestnut Giant Angora she is mostly gray unfortunately because I really like that "tweedy" look you get from spinning Chestnut wool.

On another note I would like to ask everyone reading to please pray for my mom. She had a brain aneurysm March 9th will be 5 years ago. She had to go for a brain scan Monday of this week and they found another one forming right beside the one they had fixed. She goes back to the Drs on March 2 to see what they are going to do, weather it needs fixed or they are just going to watch it. The first one busted at work and she was in the hospital for about a month or maybe a little better. Most of that in ICU. I am hoping since this one was found and has not busted it will not be nearly as hard on her to get it fixed when the time comes. It was a very hard thing to watch her go through and I hope she never has to again. On the plus side God has brought us through this one and she made a full recovery so I am sure He has plans for this as well. He walked with His children and carries them in times of need. I can't help but remember Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. In times like this He uses verses like this one to bring me comfort. There is also a song by Casting Crowns Already There that I love and brings me so much comfort. From the Mountains

I promised I would post some pics from my vacation to Gatlinburg TN so here you go. We took 2 trips up to the mountains and it was amazingly beautiful to say the least.

Here I am beside one of many many small water falls we found running down the mountains.

I love watching all the rivers that flowed and it always amazed me that it never stopped coming form up the mountains. I mean where did it all come from?

The above 2 pics were taken at New Found Gap. The sign we read said on a clear day you could see 90 miles!

I could not help but feel so small and minute as we drove around and stopped to take pictures. I was totally amazed at the creation God has made. All the beauty He created that He could come and sit among any time He likes and enjoy. Even though God created all these amazing places on earth He still wants to know me. I feel totally unworthy looking at His creation and it's beauty knowing He wants to a relationship with me even after I fail so many times and fall into sin. The fact that He has all this and still sent His Son to live among us and to die so we could have eternal salvation with Him in Glory. I had goose bumps most of the day and many times I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes as I thought all He created yet He wanted me! I am still in utter amazement by that fact. In fact its not just me he wants but everyone one of you as well.
Most of us know John 3:16 and can quote it. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
But I find John 3:17 even a little better. "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."
Not to condemn the world but through Him we might be saved. Can you fathom the real meaning of this verse? As I was going through the mountains I was amazed its not just me but the WORLD he wants to know even though He has so much beauty He can surround Himself with when we make so many things so ugly. Out of all the beauty in the world He chose YOU I pray you find as much peace and comfort in that as I do. God Bless!

More Roving

I just got back from my Vacation in Gatlinburg TN late last night. I went with some friends of mine to Winter Exteme and had an AMAZING time. We went 3 days early so we could hang out in Gatlingburg and go to the mountains. I will try to get some pics posted of the mountains soon. I need to sort through them first I uploaded over 200 pics from them. Got to hear some really good speakers and hear some awesome Christian bands as well.

I had a box of roving sitting on my bed when I got home last night. I had sent this to Wooly Knob Fiber Mill back in June. It took them a while to get it back to me but I am very pleased with the result.

This is pure Alpaca and some of the softest I have seen in a long time! I have some fawn from the same breeder at another mill in MI waiting to be spun. Amazing stuff you have to sink your fingers in this to truly appreciate it. $4 an ounce

This is the one I have been the most excited about getting back, my bright green sparkling Shetland! I dyed this different colors of green from Teal to Kelly green and had green firestar blended in. I typically send my roving to Stonehedge in MI to card but they do not blend in the firestar only pin draft it in so you don't get an even blend. The guys at Wooly Knob really did an amazing job on this one. If you like the bright sparkling stop and look at me type of roving you will love this one! Growing......

I got through a spell every now and then when I just feel the need to fill you in on all my deep personal things. Not so long ago I was struggling with the old me and almost gave up and walked away from God all together. I have turned back to God but still struggle. I have my good days and I have my bad days, I guess this is the same for everyone. We are have something that was struggle with and have a hard time moving past. When I started this journey my goal was to be heterosexual a "normal man" I have since realized that is the farthest thing in the world I should be moving towards. I would watch these guys at work and they would be checking out the ladies and making very crude comments about them. This is what I thought I should be working toward, well somewhat. God has since opened my eyes and made known to me this is not His way for me, this is not how He wants us to act. I may very well one day married with children but only is that is God's plan. He made me the person I am for a reason. My goal is not heterosexuality but Godliness. I may struggle with this for rest of my life if that is Gods plan, and if that is Gods plan and there is a reason for it I am ok with that. I try to hang onto certain things from my past to make it easier but in true life all I am doing is making life harder. Why is it I use to surrender to God 110% but now I have things I want to hang onto and not give God that 110%? I believe it's selfishness on my part. I know in my heart that when and ONLY when I surrender 110% again will life be the way it should be. That does not mean I wont have bad days but it does mean all these things I hold onto that make the bad days worse wont be there.

I hear time and time again from people that I am trying to hide the way I am and a tiger can't change his stripes. Well I tell you that I know more about who I am now that I am who I am in God than I have ever known before. I can tell you this about the lifestyle I used to live homosexual men are 8X more likely to have a drug or alcohol addiction. They are more likely to live a life in an abusive relationship, if that be physical or emotional, and die 8-20 years earlier than that of a person not given into the lifestyle. Does this really make you think that people are born this way? That people are born to live a life that can be that painful? More times than not people that are living this lifestyle have had some kind of traumatic experience in their childhood. Many many have been molested and or abused in some other way. This is what makes a person give into the lifestyle not that they were born this way. When a young child is molested it messes up things in their mind in a way that is not easily explained. This does not mean that every child that is molested will live this lifestyle by any means. This is however one of the reasons people do live this lifestyle though. There is hope in all the pain and all the confusion. God is here to free us from that to help walk with us, to take the burden on His shoulders.

In closing, being free might not be not struggling at all but might mean having Someone to turn to. Being free may mean not giving up even though you struggle. Even if being free does not mean I loose my same sex attraction all together I am ok with that because it must be Gods plan. The things I go through I know He will use to further His kingdom and I am ok with that I am more than ok with that! If I need to have some hard days so someone else can see the power of God and find an eternity in Heaven than I am more than ok with having some bad days. Because I know that in those days He will carry me, I will never walk alone and it will always be worth it. God Bless all of you!

New Rovings

Stonehedge Fiber Mill sent back 2 of my rovings today.

This is a blend from a Double Coated Shetland Ewe Lamb and a Suri llama. I currently have this on my wheel. I am really enjoying spinning it. Would over dye easily if you liked but is a light creamy white natural color. $2.50 an ounce

This oh so soft roving is a blend of Morrit Shetland, Red kid mohair and Chocolate Angora! Very soft and I can't wait to get some of this on my wheel, had it been on top of the box I would have spun it first. These rovings have a little more VM in them than I like due to my hay feeding situation last winter but comes out easy while spinning and does not take away from the spinning enjoyment at all, is priced accordingly. $3.50 an ounce. email me at psalms121@rocketmail.com God Bless! Makin Soap

Its been forever since I have posted anything! My computer got bugs and I have been super busy with all the critters, work and church events. I finally got the computer fixed and tonight I took some time and made soap and thought I would share some pics with you. The first step is to melt the lard down

This lard is from a hog we butchered last winter. My Uncle took the lard home to make cracklins and render the lard. They got the cracklins I got the lard for soap making.

Step two is mixing the lye and goat milk. After mixing it turns this golden color and gets very hot. I learned that freezing your goat milk first helps to keep it form separating and helps cool it down a lot faster.

I forgot to get a pic of step three, which was to mix the Baby Oatmeal, Borax, and Glycerin in a separate bowl. Then picture above is step four mixing all ingredients together. This is also where I add any Essential Oils for scent, this batch I used a blend called Strawberry Patch.

Lastly I pour my soap into molds. This batch make 16 very good size bars plus 2 cupcake size bars. I will cover this let it set over night then take out of molds and place on a shelf to dry for at least a month before its ready to use. Hope you enjoyed my soap making tonight! God Bless

We have been thinking about getting an LGD to watch over the sheep since I am to trusting in the llamas ability to keep coyotes and dogs out. I was going to look at some pups on Tuesday but found an Anatolian Shepard a lady was giving away. God always provides just in time! So this is Stella our new guard dog, right now she is not allowed to be out with stock alone I took her out today on a line so I could keep her with me. She was so strong I had to wrap the line around me to keep her from pulling it out of my hand. She is defiantly happier out in the field with the flock than she is in in the barn alone. She is very playful which is why the lady wanted to find her a new home. Once the puppy stage is over and she learns not to play so much she should be fine. Until then though she will just get supervised visits, so this is how Stella gets her groove back. She is only 10 months old and HUGE! Hope you enjoy the pics! God Bless

Bailey and Bruno

Well I said I would try to post pics of some of my black Giants but I have not seemed to take any pictures yet. I did however get some pics of my Boxers Bailey and Bruno. Bruno has not been on the blog before that I can remember. He is a full brother to Bailey but from a different litter. The lady never had his tail docked so he is all natural so to speak. Other than him going to see the vet Friday to be neutered.

Bruno loves his toys and will pull almost everyone out of the box to play. He plays with toys more than Moses and Bailey combined.

As you can see he sure does love his sister! She loves him to unless there is food involved LOL. All 3 of my kids (dogs) have middle names. Moses Matthew after my little brother Matthew Charles. Bailey Marie just cause the way I liked the way it sounded. Bruno is named after my mom her middle name is Dawn so I named him Bruno Donly. Hope you enjoyed the pics God Bless!

Ewe Pictures and a llama

It is incredibly nice out today and the sheep have been out grazing so I thought I would take pics of a couple to share with all of you. When its really hot the sheep tend to lounge out under the trees and go out to graze late when the sun is going down.

Martha one of my first Shetland Ewes she is a moorit.

The black ewe on the left is 3/4 BL and 1/4 BFL She is from the same farm as my Finn crosses and Cormo crosses but I was not so sure at first about the BL, once I seen them after they got a little bigger I really liked them. The ewe on the right is a Shetland Finn cross she has a wonderful fleece growing in!

This is Victory she is the first lamb born here on the farm. A moorit Shetland out of Martha who will be staying here.

This is one of Dad's Cormo cross ewes, I still have her lamb fleece in the work room to get washed and figure out what I want to do with.

2 more of Dad's ewes not totally sure what the big ewe is and the lamb which is hers is 1/2 Cormo. I am pretty sure Dad has more sheep than I do. Once I got my Shetland he got bit by the bug and wanted some bigger sheep to raise. I was ok with that as long as they had nice fleeces of course, not that I really had any say but hey if I get some nice wool out of it it sounds good! He also got his way on the new ram, will be picking up a 3/4 Cormo ram lamb for this falls breeding.

The ewe in the middle is the Cormo cross ewe from a couple pictures ago. The 2 lambs on each side of her are my Cormo Finn cross ewe lambs. Not sure which is which but we have Miss Daisey and Rosie.

Of course I could not end this post without adding my favorite guard llama, Gama. I have wanted a llama for as long as I could remember and have always said his name would be Gama. I might have been 27 by the time I got him but the Lord blessed! If this nice weather continues I will have to pull out some rabbits form my black Giant project to show you all as well. God Bless! Ashley and Mona

My niece is over tonight and wanted to help milk the goats, she did very well for a first time milker. Afterwards she wanted to take Mona for a walk.

I am in the process of drying Mona off which is going to be long process. Joyce warned me she was hard to dry off last year, before I started. I have been milking her once a day for 2 weeks now and soon will start milking ever other day. Plans for that this week we hope will have to wait and see how her production is in a couple of days. Once Mona goes to every other day milking Rachel is going to twice a day. Rachel is doing very well and is giving quite a bit more milk now than when I first got her. I am hoping to breed Mona next month for Feb kids. I was going to breed her to another Togg but found a lady very close with a full blood Boer and a Kiko, once I get a chance to see them I will pick which buck to breed her to. God Bless Dustin

This morning Joyce and I made a trip up to see Lisa and her daughter Hallie Thyr and I picked up a new Alpine Dairy goat. This way I can stagger my breeding and have fresh milk year round. Dad's small truck in broke right now and its been so hot to haul her home in the back of a truck in the sun and I really did not want to pull an 18ft goose neck trailer up there for one goat, so this is how she made the ride.

In the back of my SUV LOL Here are a couple more pics of her once I got her in the barn.

So now I am either going to have to find me a buck to breed them to or find a closer breeder. The lady that is going to breed Mona for me this fall is quite a drive, but I really want some Toggenburg babies so will be worth the drive. Dad is not a goat a fan at ALL but the good Lord blessed and I was able to get up there and get her in the barn without him knowing yet. So maybe I will safe for a little longer. You really never know what your going to see when it comes to me huh? God Bless Dustin!

New Mill Spun Yarn

My new yarn came back from Stonehedge Fiber Mill today. I was so worried about how this would come back, I dyed the wool 2 shades of pink, violet, and periwinkle. Must have done something right because it looks great! I have to say I love my mill they have super fast turn around time and always do a great job. This is Dorset cross lambs wool I got from a neighbor lady after I sheared her 2 lambs. I had it spun worsted weight and in 250 yarn skeins. My findings.... His truth!

Back in April I posted about somethings that have been going on in life and things I have been struggling with. I was on a mission to find His truth because I was torn in two and life was not going so well. Well since then life has been crazy in many many ways. I have done some stupid things but they reminded me of why I left those things to begin with. I wanted to be sure to share with all you who read my blog about my findings, I couldn't just leave you wondering what has happened. The big topic of my other post was my sexuality and how it felt to be someone going through such things. I was unsure if it really was a sin if it really was something Christians should try to turn them selves away from. Or if it was part of God's plan for us and was perfectly ok, the same a man and wife. Well I can tell you without a doubt now that I know it is not the way God meant for us to live our lives. He designed the world in a far better way. I have been to a Gay Ministry meeting and spent many many hours searching websites and comparing them to what my Bible says and to the Strongs Concordance. I have talked with two separate Pastors about this, and at one point I thought I knew it was ok and God had made me this way. It did not take long before I seen how wrong I was. I almost walked away from my Church altogether. It's easier to try and justify it than do whats right and turn away from it. So I would like to go through a verse and see what it means.

Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

This is more than likely one of the first verses most people come to when talking about homosexuality. God made man and woman to work together just the way he made male and female animals. It is natural for a male and female dove to be together and bring forth life. The same way it is natural for a man and woman to be together. If I was to leave the natural use of the woman that would mean I was leaving God's plan for my life. There are more scriptures in the Bible about this but I will only cover this one for now. If anyone wants to know more about the others feel free to contact me any time.

Now we can say Paul wrote this section of the Bible but Christ never spoke against this sin in all his teachings and Paul was only a follower of Christ. Well Jesus Himself did not write the Bible, God moved people to write and they wrote what He lead them to write. So if we are going to go that route than ALL of the Bible is fake because Jesus never wrote any of it with His hands His disciples wrote the New Testament and Profits wrote the old. If we try to pick out what parts we don't like then HOLE Bible is lost.

So if this is against God's plan why are there so many people out there who struggle with it? Were people really born feeling this way? Satan uses anything he can to attack us and pull us away from God. He is using this sin just the same as he uses any other sin to keep us from Christ and finding Eternal life and rest in God our Father. Every single person on this earth has a sin or many sins that they have to fight on a daily basis. This is the same exact thing, satan trying to pull us down. I do not believe that or rather should I say I know that people are not born this way. So why do people feel this way? Well I believe there are several reasons. If people are molested or have a traumatic experience, grow up with out a father or mother. All this things can lead to some one having these desires. The same way that a drug addict is not born a drug addict. Something happens in that persons life and they turn to drugs and then get hooked. This is the same thing and just like drugs or drinking we need to turn to God and find His strength to turn away from it. This is just a quick update and I can give more insight on the subject if anyone would like to know more. Work Room

We have been very busy the past 2 days cleaning up the "catch all room" and switching it and my bed room. My bed room was bigger so we traded rooms to have be able to fit everything neatly and still have some place for me to work on all my wool stuff. I am very pleased with the results! I have a much smaller room but all my fiber stuff is in other room all set up. Other than I my wheel which is still in my room since I borrowed my friend Joyce's loom to see if I like it. Here are a couple pics from the work room.

This is my work table with all my knitting books, yarns, some of my personal spinning fiber. dyes and all that good stuff. On the table are some Mohair locks I am going to wash and dye. The totes underneath are full of Angora and alpaca.

My drum carder which is beside the big table. Also sitting on this table is my last batch of Goat Milk Soap I made. Will be ready for use in another month.

Another view of my work table. My TV and everything is beside it as well. On the other side of the room is a shelf with dyed wool on it drying and bags of raw fleeces I need to get washed. There is also a spare bed in this room. No mattress on it yet so I have another box of wool, mostly llama, and a yet another tote full of alpaca. My goal before shearing in the spring is to get everything I have either carded in batts or roving or have spun we will see what happens. I have wool off at 2 mills right now and more to go out soon. Not seen in these pics are still 2 Rubbermaid storage units on wheels with my needles and more spinning wool. I think I am a hoarder! In my defense they are both small units though LOL God Bless!

Busy weekend

This weekend was the Hoosier Hills Fiber Fest. Since I joined the Indiana Fiber Producers Association I went to help with that booth. It was HOT for sure but Saturday was the worst. Had a really good time but of course forgot to take pictures I did take my camera but never got it outta the car. I ended up trading a Choc Giant cross buck for a French Angora doe. The only French in the barn, and the only reason she is in the barn is because her color is fantastic! I am really not sure what color she is and will try to post pics later. I forgot to get them while I was out taking pics of the lambs. I traded some yarns for some llama fiber, picked up a lap loom, and a drop spindle. I have 2 ladies wanting to learn to use a spindle so now I can teach them easily. Pam K has bought a Border/BFL lamb from the lady I got my Finn and Cormo crosses from. She while I was helping her get her lamb I ended up buying another Finn Cormo cross ewe lamb. Since I was in my SUV I had to put her in my back hatch. It didn't take long as she was over the back seat then over the front and in the floor board in the passenger side. The people working the drive through at Hardee's got quite a kick out of her. Since I had to hauler her around in such a way I think I will name her Miss Daisy. Like Driving Miss Daisy LOL. Here is a pic of her. She is eating a blade of grass is why she looks so funny she really is not deformed or anything.

Dad mowed the pasture yesterday while I was out playing so now when you go out you can see the sheep so I got some updated pics of my lambs.

This is Truth black lamb in front and Victory who turned into a Moorit THANK YOU JESUS!! The ewe behind them is their mother they are nearly as big as she is now. She also gave me my favorite fleece fleece this year, I just got it washed. My plans were to keep Truth for a ram but Dad really wants to buy a Cormo ram, and how do I argue with that? Have you ever felt a Cormo's fleece?

Dorthy still not sold on her fleece will have to wait and see. Ewe lambs wont be bred this fall so we got lots of time to see which way she goes.

This little guy does not have a name because I know he wont be staying here. Him, Truth and Victory are always out. Here is in the pasture with the horse and 2 steers. God Bless and try and keep cool!

Llamas done!

I was finally able to shear the llamas this morning, when I was shearing my sheep my blades went dull then I had issues getting new blades. Once the blades finally came in I was working or it was raining! We got today off, and there was no rain so llamas got a new do. Nessie and Velma do not appear to have ever been clipped before so had nasty matted wool and that I had to throw away. Gama I clipped late last summer so had a shorter stable of about 4 inches. The girls look like new animals and I am surprised how much smaller Nessie was than I thought, both girls were also very easy to shear while Gama was a pain. He would try to cush so I put a saddle cinch under him then he would try to jump out of my make shift shoot, which he was unable to do. I was able to finally get him done without any injuries to anyone thank God, but what a sissy! Here a couple pics of them all cleaned up.

Velma, who under all the matts had some of the nicest wool! If her wool is that soft next year she will clearly be my favorite for wool. She is also the most laid back but does not make much of a guard llama.

I tried to get new pics of the lambs but they were not having it today. The little lamb in front was the last lamb born his mother is in the right hand corner Chi Chi. He is unnamed because there is not chance he will be staying. The white and black ewe lamb in the back is Dorthy my favorite this year. She is very flashy and well built. I dont think she will be a single coated Shetland like I want but we will keep her for a year or so and see what kinda fleece will have, and since this is my first year with Shetlands I could be wrong. Her wool looks more like other 2 lambs who are single coated but is much curlier.

This very dark little boy is Truth. He will be staying around as a ram for future breeding. Single coated and nice build. Dorthy is in the back nursing from her mom Mary. Haha Mary had a little lamb! Couldn't help myself LOL God Bless Dustin

Lamb Pics

Last Friday while I was out at the Greencastle Fiber Event Martha had her set of twins a Ram and a Ewe lamb. I posted pics on facebook last weekned so its about time I posted theme her for all my faithful blog followers.

Proud mother Martha with ewe lamb in the middle and ram lamb leading the way. My goats Mona and Billy are in the back ground.

At first they both looked black but now the ewe lamb is looking more brown so maybe she will be moorit like her mom. The ewe is named Victory and ram Truth. As you can see Victory is about half the size of Truth which had us worried at first but she is doing great is active and eats like a little pig.

Here is my llama Gama getting his Good Friday breakfast. I pray all of you remember what the meaning of this weekend is. Without Easter Sunday we would be still separated from God and making sacrifices like in the Old Testament. I think we loose sight from time to time what He really did for us and what He really went through. I took a class in Church that taught what Christ went through so we could get a free ticket to Heaven. It's is amazing to know we have Savior that loves us that much even after what happened to him. Can you imagine being beat with a scourge (a whip with pieces of glass, porcelain, and bone made into the end to tear and rip the skin and flesh away), mocked, spit on, had His beard pulled out, and yet after all this hung on a cross to the point of death, but the glorious part is death only lasted 3 days and He arose again to defeat death and satan. How it feels to be one of us.......

So here I go again living my personal life out load for everyone to see. Why do I do this? Several reasons really, but here are a few of them. I know without a doubt that everything we go through is form God and is for a reason. I hope that my trials in life will help one you reading this or help someone you know. It helps me to think through things when I get it all put down and out in the open. Most of all somehow I believe this will bring glory to God and show His love for His people. This subject will completely NEUTRAL I will neither condone nor condemn. I do not wish to change anyone's theology, I wish to change the way some people approach this subject. I do not need sympathy from anyone because of this I simply hope it helps someone out there and its all for a reason. God has blessed my life in many more ways than ANY one person deserves. It is unreal the things God has done in my life and given me in my life so please remember that while reading through this.

As most of you know I was saved in Aug of 07 and my life totally changed. I have preached against homosexuality both on here and in church. However that does not mean that my struggles have gone away that does not mean that I do not still desire these things. At this point in my life I am really unsure on what my belief is about the subject. Now some of you are thinking WHAT, WHY would say that? Its takes a brave person to say that. Believe it or not, to say I may have been wrong or I may have been right. How bad is it to say your willing to learn and your willing to search for the truth, and to be able to know that is the truth with all that you are?

I have done everything I know to do to put this behind me, prayed, tried to remain faithful, preached against it, and everything else I can think of doing or thought I was being led to do. Even at my strongest points in my faith I have had alot of struggles with this. In the last month or two things have been very hard for me and i feel torn, it is very hard for me to go to church right now. I can either live life the way I feel or I can live life as a Christian. Then I meet a group of people that says you can life this way and still be a Christian. I have talked to several people about this seeking guidance. I am tired or being upset, tired or crying, tired of stressing, and tired of being mad. The one thing I hear all the time is "I can't imagine what your going through or how hard this is for you." So this is my chance to show everyone one of you how hard this can be and what it's like.

I want you get the person you love, your wife, husband, boyfriend, girlfriend whatever it is. Stop here and dont go any farther until you get his person!

Now put your arms around them hold them tight, give them a kiss and tell them how much you love them. Do you feel how natural and right that felt? How absolutely wonderful that was! That is how so many of us feel. That is how I feel when I wake up in the arms of another man, or kiss the one I love. That feeling when your heart is on the top of a mountain just from being in that persons arms. Now imagine people say its not right, that is not natural and you should be ashamed of yourself for feeling this way! That everything your heart and body is crying for is terrible and wrong. Its an abomination to God! Can you imagine what that is like? Now what if its natural for you to be in committed relationship with some one of the opposite sex of the person you were just showing your love to. Can you wake up to or love or kiss or even marry that other person? Do you see how backwards and weird that would be? Can you imagine living your life that way? Well if not than you can just be single the rest of your life cause you dont get to be loved and love the way you feel it. You dont deserve that. How does that make you feel?

When you go to church and the subject gets brought up, it cuts through you like a knife right to your heart. When people make their condemning comments with that tone of voice that says " thats so disgusting I can't believe people could ever feel that way, I am so much better than that". When people want to make their silly little jokes and act like people who are this way or struggle with this are nasty, terrible people. (I would like to take a moment to say hear, yes I have heard stuff like this in Church but I have not heard my Pastor say or do any of this! I have nothing but the utmost respect for my Pastor who really does care for his flock and does everything he can to help them. I highly respect him and think a lot of him and his beliefs and opinions) . Do you have idea how much it hurts some one that is going through this when you act that way? How much it can make them feel they dont belong there and they never will? For people to tell you that you will go to hell for being this way?

Well hello, people do not go to hell because they commit one sin or the other. Sin is sin and the wage of sin is death. I don't care what you have done or will do in life the ONLY thing you will go to hell for is not confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. For not accepting the GIFT He is giving to ALL! I know that in Heaven there will be homosexuals, prostitutes, drug addicts, faithful Christians, and Pastors, people from every God believing religion. Why is that? Because Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Light. All those that come to repentance and take Him into their hearts will be wrote in the Lambs Book of Life. Sin separates us form God and that is why Jesus came to this earth and died FOR ALL MAN KIND. There are healing powers in the name of Jesus like you will never believe but that does not mean that if someone still falls they will not one day with our Lord. If we were all perfect Jesus would not have need to die for our sins.

Here is what I know without a doubt. I am going through all that I am for a reason. To either find out I was wrong and it is ok to be this way or I have been given this fight for a reason and only God knows what this is but one day it will be revealed and it will be all worth it. So as I continue to search I want you to remember that just because your believe something is wrong or you dont understand, it does not make that other person any less of a person than you. I dont care if they are a drug addict or an abused spouse a hooker or whatever it may be. That person is in pain and the last thing they need is you to run your mouth and act like your better than them! We are all people we all have trials in our lives. Remember that your sin is just as bad as mine and every other person. If your a fat person, you eat till your tummy is about to explode your sinning to. Just the same as me. If your too lazy to go out and get a job, hit your wife, or condemn someone else to hell, your sin is just as great as that other persons! Remember to go to other people with love in your heart and love in your voice. If you go to someone because you know better and you are better then who is really is in the wrong place? Waiting and waiting and waiting.....

This is poor Martha lookin all fat and ready to have those babies! I was able to shear her a week ago and she was bagged up then. I am not the most patient person in the world so the waiting game is not working out too well for me this year. Maybe next year will be better since it wont be my first year with lambs.

I tried to get a pic from behind to show how big her utter was but she as not having it at all so this is the best I could do. I believe she will have twins and Mary and Chi Chi will both have singles. They are not as far along as she is though. Every morning this week when I got out to milk Mona the first thing I look for is lambs but nothing yet. It wont be too long though I don't think. Speaking of Mona here is a pic for ya.

Every time I give hay she ends up on on top of it eating over everyone's heads. She is doing very well and giving over half a gallon of milk everyday. The good Lord has blessed me with all my kids and I am soooo loving it! God Bless Dustin

Mona is giving a little over 1/2 gallon of milk a day which is more than I have been using and is stacking up in the fridge. So tonight I tried my hand at making goat milk cheese. Actually very easy to do and only took about 30 min. Will have to let it hang for a while to drain before I can taste it but I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Mom found the recipe in one of her cook books. Its hand wrote and in my writing so my guess is I copied it WAY back when I was a freshman in HS and had a Nubian milk goat. There are also recipes for Yogurt and Butter. My nephew and brother are asking for milk as well and I wanna make soap, I think if this keeps up I will need anther goat LOL. It has been forever since I posted anything on here for all of you to read! Things have been moving right along here in Indiana kinda smooth right not but I am sure that won't last long. I have 2 new litters of Giant Angora babies in my colored breeding program there are both Blacks and Chestnuts. Lambing should start sometime in April not really sure when the lady I bought my sheep from never gave me any dates so here goes nothin I guess LOL. Shearing I am hoping will be done next weekend. I ordered shears back in Feb but the company I ordered them from never told me they were on back order till a couple weeks later. So ended up canceling my order and ordering a pair from another company. They will be here first part of next week. Maybe it would have been easier to call a shear but we have this "Do it yourself" attitude around here.

Today I picked up my first Toggenburg milk goat named Mona. When I picked her up this morning Joyce gave me a milking lesson then Mona and I had our first loan milking tonight. All went smooth and between both milking she gave about 2.5qts of milk today. I think her milk will increase as she gets use to being milked out everyday, she just started giving milk last week. More Black Giants

Here are a couple of pics of my latest 2 hopeful keepers out of my black Giant project.

Dusty's Solomon so far he is the biggest out of the 2 so I am hoping he will be a nice big buck and be my next herd sire.

Dusty's Jael a little smaller than her brother but does not fail in type or density. Both of these go back to black Germans that were imported in 2006. What I love about working with some of the black Germans is how well they keep color all the way to the skin. They wont stay coal black like they are now but they will stay a nice darker gray color, my crosses with other other breeds fade a lot more and some have been very pale colored. Of course the more I breed "true for color" the better the color stays. Texture on the black Germans is not quite as soft as I like in my Giants, but what they do for color and density more than makes up for that. I was able to get another black German recently from my friend Joyce that has very nice texture and make 10lbs very early, so I am anxiously waiting to be able to breed her. God Bless!

New Hat Pattern

This is a new hat pattern I got a couple of weeks ago. It looks kinda difficult but its all knit and purl stitches and you move the stitch marker to the right and recenter every 4 rows, very simple. I like knitting hats because they are fast and I dont get bored or loose focus before they are done like I do big projects.

This is my yearling ewe Martha. I am not totally sure what color she is yet but I am thinking Mioget. Shetland have lots of colors and patterns I am going to have to learn now to. The little ewe in the back is a black ewe lamb named Chi Chi. As you can see I did not use sheep jackets this year so I will have lots of picking to do on the fleeces. I hope to have everyone covered next winter. God Bless!

Habakkuk

For some reason the name Habakkuk came to mind the first time I saw a pic of my ram. So from that time on I knew that would be his name. It's kinda odd though Habakkuk is the name of an Old Testament book and he was a profit, but other than that I know nothing about him and I have not read the book of Habakkuk yet either. I guess it was just God saying "I am letting you have these sheep and this is what I want you to call him." So it that is how Habakkuk got his name.

I never seem to remember to take my camera out with me while doing chores so I missed getting pics of the sheep running around and jumping after their evening meal. Habakkuk would take a short run then bounce like a pogo stick bend in half in the air and then start all over. The ewes thought he was a little crazy I think. While I was out watching them I noticed some wool on the fence. Turns out it was from Habakkuk and a nice little sample as well.

I am guessing it is from his neck wool since it is a shorter stable than the wool on his midsection, but as clean as it is it may not be either. No matter where it is from it is so very soft and makes me not wanna wait another month till shearing time. I am ready to get that fleece on the wheel! Shetland have 3 different fleece types and I have all 3 of them here. Habakkuk is a "longish wavy" fleece. I have 2 kindly/single coated ewes and 1 double coated ewe. All have very soft wool but all will be make a different type of yarn. I cant make up my mind if I wanna sell any of my wool from the sheep this year or if I wanna horde it all to myself. Bee Hive Hat

I have been knitting hats lately for the Hat Ministry we started up at Church. We are giving hats to cancer patients, homeless people or other people that may be needing one. Here is the pattern for the Bee Hive hat I just finished. I think the yarn I used has too many colors in it to really show the pattern but it looks neat in person, its 70% Alpaca and 30% Angora. What I have been up to lately

Its COLD here in Southeastern Indiana the past couple of days with lots of snow. Since I am off today I am spending it in the warm till I have to do more tending to the animals. I got some new roving back from the mill back in Nov but have not got any plied till today. It is 41% Moorit Shetland, 29% Agouti Angora and 30% Llama from Gama's cria fleece. If you have never spun Llama wool before its not as soft as Alpaca but it has a slicker feel to it making it more elegant in my opinion. This being from a cria fleece is extra soft. I also made some felted soap bars. I made 2 with alpaca but only one turned out the way I wanted and I made another with Lincoln sheep wool. I like the Lincoln the best since it is a little scratchier I think it will work better for a scrubber. Here is a pic God Bless!

I have blue gray eyes, was born blue but have been changing colors for about 2 weeks now. Both my parents are black. On my sire's side there are some Tans, and an otter, REW and one steel. Knitting Hats

I have been busy getting some hats knitted up for Christmas this year. I had a couple requests this year after they seen the ones I gave for presents last year.

Starting top left is Shetland with Angelina, next is Rambouillet Alpaca ear muff hat, and Rambouillet with bronze Angelina. Bottom left is my absolute favorite, brim is Cormo Angora blend and the body is Opal English Angora, lastly the brim is Coopworth and body is Chestnut Agouti Angora. Now I am working on a hat with the orange roving I had got from Copper Moose. God Bless Dustin

SHEEP!!!!

Yesterday my parents and I made the long trip up to Fenton MI to pick up a starter flock of Shetland sheep and a couple llamas. We got them from the lady who runs Kirkshire. She gave me the 4 llamas because her husband has passed away from cancer and needed to cut down on the amount of critters she was feeding.

The Ram is in the back a black and white Ilget he is a lamb, 2 moorit ewes one is a lamb and one a yearling and a black ewe lamb. They have been running with the ram all fall so could be bred as well, if so will be my very first spring with lambs.

This is a pic of the 3 female llamas. I am going to keep the 2 lighter colored llamas and the dark llama in the back is looking for a forever home. The one is the front is named Yo Momma LOL So now I have a Llama Gama and a Llama Yo Momma. Little female in the back I need to name yet.

This is a gelding named Bullet that is looking for a forever home as well. The other dark llama is his mom so it would be great if they could go together. I am asking $50 each to help with the cost of gas to MI and back. All in all we a great trip up there and back yesterday it just made for a very long day. The good Lord blessed me with amazing parents that went with me and Dad even done all the driving. Hope you enjoyed the pics God Bless Dustin.

Alpacas

Yesterday after I got off work I went to visit a near by Alpaca farm who was having a Christmas Open House. They are new to Alpacas having them for about a year now and are up to 10 Suri Alpacas. 4 of them are bred females they just picked up last weekend in Iowa. The Alpacas all looked very well cared for and the owners were very nice people as well. Here are some pics of the Alpacas I took while walking around the barn. They had a small shop where I picked up another hand woven rug, this one is for Mom's kitchen.

Bunnies and Batts

I finally got around to taking pics of a couple of the new babies in my colored Giant projects. I currently have 3 bucks left out of my oldest litter. They were the biggest in the litter and all have good type the choc otter being my favorite so far. The little black buck I may be selling for a wooler if he does not pick up some weight soon and catch up with his brothers. Right now he is 6lbs and the 2 chocs are 6lbs 4oz.

I have been busy carding some Shetland wool as well and blending it with Angora. I have finally made up my mind about what breed of sheep I want. I am going with Shetlands because I like the range of colors, it blends well with Angora, and I can easily card it myself on the drum carder. They are also a Primitive breed so are hardy and I wont have to worry about docking tails. I am sure I will end up with one or two that are not Shetlands but Shetlands will make up the most of the spinners flock. I have had a couple fleeces from one flock and will be going to visit another flock that my parents found at the North American soon and will be picking up a fleece to see how it works up. Anyways here are the batts I have dyed carded and blended with Angora. I still have some white and blue wool to do something with as well.

Bailey Approves

Saturday morning mom and I went up to one of the churches for a craft bazaar. I recently found out one of my Dads cousins wife weaves rugs out of fabric and would be there. I have a love for things hand made so had to go find me one.

Not long after we got back with it Bailey took right up with it doing what she does best.

Socks Part 1

As some of you may know I have made my first attempt at knitting socks. Socks are the one thing I have wanted to knit since I stated knitting but have been afraid to do it. My first plan was to be able to spin my own sock yarn and knit my own socks. After some pushing from my friend Joyce I finally stated on a pair.

I know its nothing to brag about but its a start in my ever so slow knitting. I am using some of the IAGARB sock yarn I got from Joyce as well. Its very soft yarn and is blooming nicely so far. I will keep you posted as I make more progress but it will be slow going. God Bless Dustin

Black Giants

Tonight I took a couple pics of some of my Black Giant project to share with everyone so you can see how far I am in the process. So far I am getting some nice type and wool but I would still like to work on darker color and of course bigger rabbits. They have come a long way since I first started though my latest buck I do believe will make weight and then some by time he is Sr, my does usually do as well.

This is Dusty's Yang. She was clipped this evening and has a very nice amount of oh so soft wool with a 4 inch staple.

Dusty's Chunky Monkey. Growing her 2nd coat with tons of crimp and impressive texture and density. Under this wool she is a tank! I am in love with how solid her body is.

This is Dusty's Theopolis. Theopolis is who the book of Acts in Bible was wrote which is where he gets his name. Growing his second coat and there is tons of it coming in! He should make a very nice her sire, I have currently got him bred to 2 does even though he is still quite young. God Bless Dustin

Its been so long.....

It have been so long since I have posted anything for my friends to read. I am soo sorry for neglecting my blog for so long. Its been kinda crazy around here but hopefully with cooler weather comes more free time. We have the barn done and a small lot built in front of the barn but have not been able to get the pasture fenced in since the ground has been so hard because of lack of rain. The few holes we have had to dig for the pen and in the barn have taken a couple of days we dig a little then fill the holes full of water over night dig again and repeat. So if we dont get some rain soon it will be spring before we are able to do any fencing.

Today Mom and I went to Salem IN and picked up 2 Angora wethers.

This is Bobby and Billy. Bobby is the one in front, Billy looks more like a Buck then a wether since he was wethered late in life. I am hoping that wont affect his fleece too much. Bobby's fleece I think is going to be really nice but I truely dont know a lot about Angora goats so will have to wait till spring when I can shear and spin some it.

In these 2 pics you can really see how stout and buck looking Billy is. I was originally going to name them Bobby and Buddy but Billy still has some of that billy goat smell going on so I called him Billy instead. I am really hoping that goes away now that he has be cut so if anyone knows for sure please let me know.

I have 3 litters of babies bunnies as well I need to get pics of them posted. They are all part of my Colored Giant projects. 2 litters are Tans and Otters and the other I was hoping for blacks but all the colored babies are going to have white spots so if anyone stays it will be REWs. Rabbit Summer Sausage

2 lbs ground rabbit
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon crushed pepper corns
1/2 teaspoon mustard seed
5 teaspoons liquid smoke
2 tablespoons Tender Quick Curing Salt
1 cup water

Mix all together in bowl divide into logs
Sprinkle with more peppercorns pat in to stick
Wrap in netting (I used aluminum foil, make sure to poke holes so water and grease drip out)
Then wrap again in plastic wrap (I skipped this since I used aluminum foil)
Place in frig for 24 hours
Place on broiler rack
Bake at 300 degrees for 1 to 1 and 1/2hours
Remove netting once you can handle, if its cool netting will stick
Wrap in plastic
Place in frig for 24 hours before eating.

I made this this weekend and loved it, so did everyone I gave some to. I have heard of people using half rabbit and half pork but I only used rabbit. God Bless!

A lot has been going on in my life lately that has lead to me cutting down on amount of animals I have here at the Haven. As you know from reading previous posts I am a diabetic and have joined a gym in hopes of loosing some weight so I wont be on meds the rest of my life. I started working on a new assembly line at work and have been working a lot of 10 and 12 hour days. It is harder work than I was doing but after 6 years on the same line I needed a change. So far the new job is very nice and makes the days go by much quicker. The 2nd semester of my Faith Bible Institute class started up last Sunday night so I now have reading homework to do and will have tests at the end of the semester. This class is amazing and highly recommend taking it if you get the chance.

On top of all of this and the most exciting and life changing is I have surrendered to the Ministry! God has brought me through a drug addiction and homosexuality and I am now feeling led help others who struggle with the same things. This is the main reason I have decided to cut down on the amount of animals I have. Right now I just trying to find God's will and see where He is wanting me to go with all of this. I have started a new blog to get things started that I plan to post on faithfully. In Healing Hands will be where I do most of what God lays on my heart for the moment or as long as God allows me to use it. I am very excited and scared all at the same time about all of this. It is amazing to think that God could use me to further His Kingdom. I would have never thought only 3 years ago I would be where God has brought me today. While I was reading my bible tonight this verse jumped out at me and brought to mind another verse or maybe a couple more verses and I really felt I like I needed to share it.

2Jhon 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

So what does this mean? The Father the Word and the Holy Ghost are all one. I know that is not the easiest thing to understand but is true. The way I had it explained to me is its like water. You can have 3 forms of water yet its all still one thing. You have water, ice and vapor, while they are all in different forms they are all still water. The Trinity is kind of the same thing. There are 3 different forms but all is one God.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

When I read this I get that the Word is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was in the beginning with God and was God. That is why Jesus Christ was God manifested in the flesh. Jesus was God on earth.

1Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

The meaning of manifest is- apparent to the senses, especially to sight, or to the mind: evident: obvious. To make clear or evident: reveal. To prove: be evidence of. To appear to the senses.

So my conclusion on all of this is Jesus was God on earth. God came this earth to free His people to give us a way out. He made it clear Who He was and there could only be one Who could have came with no mistake. I want to say that Jesus fulfilled 333 old testament proficiencies. It was very clear that Jesus was the Messiah the one and only true living God, and He came down to this earth to save you and I who are sinners alike. The same God that died for me died for you as well. The same God that loves me, loves you. It amazes me how we dont have to change one thing about us to come to God but He calls us as well are! What amazing love is that, no matter what you have done in your life God is there. Trust me if God can change my life and work with such a person as I He can work with you as well. With God there is no "can't" or "wont" with God all things are possible. God Bless have a good evening!

I was not expecting these guys for at least one more day but was pleasantly surprised when mom heard chirps coming from the spare room where my incubator is.

There are 8 in the shoe box here and one still in the incubator drying off some. I will take him out in the morning to join his siblings. These eggs were a gift from a man in TX I bought some alpaca fleeces from. So are totally unrelated to the trio of Quail I currently have. I will keep you updated if more hatch out! God Bless!

Getting Closer

The contractor finished up his part of the barn on Fri, on top of building my barn we also had him add a 15ft lean to on the big barn. Tonight Dad and I were out filling the barn with lime to help keep the moister out we filled it about 6 inches. Tomorrow we will start adding a couple boards to the base to keep the animals off the metal and getting ready to build a stall and then separate the feed storage area off. Here are some of the pics of what we have done so far.

East Side there will be a stall inside this door and a pen around this side of the barn.

North side, inside this door will be a storage area for feed and maybe a couple bales of hay.

East side, this is the front of the barn that will lead out to the big pasture area.

In my little world lately

Its been some time since my last post so I wanted to pop in and give you and update on what has been going on. We shall go from worst to best in this so hang on it gets better! I had some very bad luck with my lambs shortly after I got them. I am not totally sure if the dog got in the pen with them and they all busted through the gate or if my horse busted the gate open (he has thumbs I think!) and they got out. Either way the dogs got my 2 lambs a very very bad day at my house that evening. The Dr has told me that I do indeed have diabetes. I have been slowly gaining weight over the past couple years so that and both my parents having it to I am sure I was a shoo in. So I am on metformin for once a day right now and will go up to twice a day in another week. However no matter what goes wrong God is always there and makes it better!

I have joined a gym in town, Anytime Fitness, which I am really enjoying so far. I go with a couple girls I hung out with in school so it good to catch up and talk with them on a regular basis. Trying to eat right kinda sucks but you gotta do what you gotta do even if you do like the candy bar. I will be going to see the dietitian as well to get on the right track.

These are all pics of the new barn I am having build for my spinners flock. Its a 20X24 so I wont end up with 100 sheep, I know how I get so I need to have a set limit! There will be a guard llama and I have very strongly been considering an LGD as well to keep them safe. We are going to split the big pasture in half and put up a high tinsel fence with lots of room for grazing. So once all this gets done I will be going to pick up a couple lambs with lesson learned. So no matter what goes wrong in life the good Lord always provides and makes a way out! God Bless!

I thought while I washing a fleece I would take some time and post fair pics of my niece and nephews rabbit show. Austin is still in Mini 4H and Ash has moved on to regular 4H, this is her second year of it. They both done AMAZING with their rabbits again this year. Ashley took 3 New Zealand Whites and a pair of Thriantas. She took BOB and BOS in both classes as well as winning the fryer class with a NZW. The Thriantas she was showing are actually Austins rabbits and she went on to get BIS with the Sr buck. I can not remember being that excited at a rabbit show in a long time! I have been showing for several years and have never got a BIS so I was very happy and proud of them both for taking such good care of the rabbits.

THE LORD'S TEST

Toes and Socks

Its been a little while since I have posted anything, last week was fair week and the kids very well with the rabbits. I will try to get details and pics posted soon. I did manage to get all my cages in the barn burnt and bleached today still got the outside hutch to do then it will be time to clean under the cages again. With all the animals I have there is always something that need done!

These 2 little guys were born May 25th and I am just not getting around to posting pics of them.

No matter how much I like these little guys they are proof that no matter what you need to have your dogs spayed or neutered. Roo is 5 years old and I have always got her put up in time not to have pups. This time I got her put her up and she got out on her own and as you can see I did not get to her before he did! The daddy is a Lab German Shepard mix and Roo is lab so pups are mostly lab. There is one boy and one girl both just got named today. The boy has a white spot and on his chest and toes so I called him Toes, the girl is solid choc and had to think of a name to go with Toes so I call her Socks LOL. These guys will be ready for new homes in a couple weeks so if you or some one you know is looking for a puppy please let me know. They are free to a good home. psalms121@rocketmail.com

Angora Shetland Yarn

I got my first yarn back from the mill this week. It is 50% Black Angora and 50% Shetland from Under the Son Farm I have come to Love the mill I send all my roving to, I had called and asked about doing this yarn before sending it in and was told it would be 8-12 weeks which was really amazing so I thought. They got the package the first part of June I want to say the 3rd so I was expecting it back the end of July or Aug but I got it back on June 22nd! Granted it was a small run so I could see how everything worked out but I am very very impressed! Just in case your wondering I send all my stuff to Stonehedge Fiber Mill I have 18 250 yard sports weight skeins that are for sale at $21 a skein plus shipping.

Spinning Batts

I have found myself struggling with my sin (we all have a sin or sins in our lives we find hard to deal with)lately, thinking it would be ok to just give in no one has to know. HOW SILLY is that? I mean honestly! God is omnipresent which means is everywhere and there are some more of those omni words I can not totally remember right now that means He sees everything and knows everything and hears everything. We have angles with us to keep watch over us and keep us safe, so we may think we are getting away with things but who are we really fooling? We are only justifying what we want, to make our choices seem ok to US. The truth is sin is sin no matter how big or how small is all sin and after what Jesus done for us on the cross how pathetic is it when we fall or dive into our sin? We have a way out, we have a reason to turn out backs. 1 Corinthians 10:13 "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is commion to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye my be able to bear it." That is our way out our easy way to deal with our sin turn it over to God who is there and is willing to hold your head on His shoulders to walk with you to make a way through your hard times.

I found this while looking at another website and felt God speaking to me while reading it. He was showing me how silly it is to have the sin in my life that I have. All I need to do is hand it over to Him and let Him show me the way out! God Bless.

Hoosier Hills Fiber Fest

This weekend was the Hoosier Hills Fiber Fest in Franklin IN where Joyce and I shared a booth. I ended up doing a little better than I thought but sales were still a little low. Of course I ended up spending more than I made but it was a worth while investment. I picked up a suri llama fleece, traded some angora yarn for a llama fleece, traded Joyce some roving for some llama and wool roving. I ended up with lots of llama LOL Thats great since llama is one of my favorite fibers though. The best part of my weekend was getting to see my friend Kathy Obrakta out and about who I have not been able to see much since she got sick. I believe the good Lord is really helping take care of Kathy very well.

Meredith in the front and Kristina behind all settled in a small pen in my barn for a couple days while they adjust to the new surroundings. They are 50% Cormo 25% Shetland and 25% Finn. The start of my spinners flock! Once these girls are old enough to breed I plan to get a Cormo Ram and a Cormo BL X colored ewe. I called and asked Dad for permission for a lamb since I would have to depend on him to come get it and take it home for me and he talked me into 2 lambs. Whoever thought my own Dad would be a bad influence on me? I tell you God really blessed me with wonderful parents that are very supportive and understanding of all my hobbies. Quail

The quail have grown so fast it is hard to imagine they just hatched in April. Tonight while I was out feeding I found the first quail egg in the cage. Here are a couple of pics sorry they are so dark.

This second pic is the quail egg beside a chicken egg so you can see the difference in the 2. Most people know how small a baby chicken is so now you can imagine how tiny a baby quail is.

Rovings

I got these new rovings in this week, I am very pleased with the skeins I spun up. This is 2 of the fleeces I picked up at the Greencastle fiber event both came from Westfeild Woolies.

This is 50% Colored Angora and 50% Cormo BL X wool. A very nice soft yet strong yarn with a good amount of halo, and I am in love with the steal gray color. I think this would make some fantastic sock yarn! I have always wanted to spin my own sock yarn once I get brave enough to knit them maybe now its time to give it a go. $3.75 oz plus shipping.

34% Angora blended with Cormo. I dyed several different colors of orange and yellow and had the mill blend them all together with some just the right amount of firestar. New Babies!

After I returned home from the Columbus Ohio mini convention yesterday where I was meeting a friend and making some new ones Drusilla had her first litter. Dru is a fawn German cross.

There are 2 Reds in this litter I am very excited about, an opal, 2 REW,2 Black a couple chestnuts and then the kit in the lower left hand corner that is looking like it may be a lynx or something to that effect. I have never had a lynx baby so not sure what they look like.
This next pic is a litter of blacks out of Stormie and Eddie. Out of 8 babies I only have 3 does one of which has a white spot on it forehead. All are very dark black though so should have good color for my black program.

I got this wheel from my friend Kathy Obrakta a little over a month ago, its an Ashford Traditional.

I have not had much time for spinning lately with work, rabbit shows, fiber fair, and the bible class I take but decided the other day I had not spun angora in awhile and I was just going to have to take some time every night to do it. I had been spinning some BFL on it and was really enjoying it but slow going. So I took that off carded 2 batts of fawn Angora from Drusilla and have made time for spinning the past 3 nights. I am in love with the way this wheel spins.

I dont take it with me anywhere since its bigger than my little Lamb so I will be keeping the Lamb around for a traveling wheel but thats about all the use it gets anymore. Since I am enjoying this new so much. God Bless!

New Kids

As promised here are some pics of the new critters that have came to live on the ol homestead.

This is Woody, Dads new Mountain Curr. Mountain Curr's are used to hunt a verity of things, Woody is a squirrel dog.

These are Jumbo Courtnix Quail. They are 10 days old in this photo, when they hatched they were the size of bumblebees. At 7 weeks of age they will start laying eggs that we will incubate and raise quail for food.

Here we have 73 sex-link pullets and yes 73 that was not a typo. We do sell a lot of eggs but I am still not sure what ever possessed me to buy so many. I got them at TSC and they gave me a pretty good deal. I guess I can always sell some as layin hens when they get bigger.

I am really getting into growing our own food lately. With the rabbits, chickens, quail and turkeys I am off to a good start. I still have some other things I want but just not totally ready for them yet. Not sure if I will be able to talk anyone into goats I might just have to bring them home without anyone knowing LOL. Even if I do I know no one here other than me would eat one LOL. You might think that sound nasty but if you like deer you will like goat meat.

Busy busy busy...

It seems like the last couple weeks have flown by! Last weekend I had the fiber festival in Greencastle IN. Sales were really good and I was lucky enough to get an inside booth right next to Debbie, Sharon, and Isis.

I ended up buying about 5lbs of white Cormo and 3lbs of colored Cormo BL cross, and 3lbs of the nicest Shetland I have ever seen, and I traded one rabbit for a light fawn cria alpaca fleece. I have some fawn angora I could have blended with that and it would be oooh so soft.

Today I got all the rabbit poo cleaned up out of the barn and put on the garden. There was quite a bit since I have not cleaned it out since last fall. We should have some nice tomatoes in the garden this year with all that poo! I got the last of my white Cormo in the rinse now and have dyed 1 1/2lbs of white angora today.

This will be used for my next roving and will be blended with several colors of Cormo. I have not totally made up my mind if I want to add glitz to the roving yet or not. It will give it that pow that I am going for with all my oranges but also make it a little girly. Since most spinners are female though it may be a good idea though. Next post I will have pics of all the new critters here on the homestead. I think it was Annette who asked the beginning of the year what all critters I would get this year so stay tuned.... I have been busy getting ready for the Greencastle IN Fiber Event this weekend. I will be setting up in an outside tent with Melody Richardson. I have been weighing and bagging all my fiber since I wont have electric this time. Here is a pic of my car loaded up with roving and yarns. Still got plenty of room to take a couple bunnies.

My Testimony

I met with Deb Whited last weekend to deliver a French Angora kit and she asked me a question I have not been asked in a long time. She wanted to know my testimony and since tomorrow is Easter I thought I would share it with you all.

Most of you just know the quite guy at the rabbit shows that keeps to himself and is easy to get a long with for the most part. However that has not always been the case in fact I was almost the total opposite before the good Lord started working on my heart. I was a pretty good kid all the way through school but then when I got out of school is when all the problems started. I had struggled with my sexuality since a young age and had just "came out" when I started hanging out with the wrong crowd. It did not take long before I started trying pot, pills and drinking. Once that started I found my drug of choice, meth. I would do anything to get it including stealing from friends and family and had to have it everyday. I had developed a very strong addiction to it. I was always trying to fill this need I had and soon drugs was not enough so I started sleeping around to try and fill that need. I won't go into detail about the things I did because somethings are better left unsaid but I was going down a dark twisty path very fast.

There was a little girl in Crothersville IN that was murdered, at first a guy came forward and said she walked up on some stuff going on with meth and thats why she was murdered. We would late find out that was not true however that was the first story. I remember going to a friends house a few days later with her mom, mom's bf, her bf, her and I, we all stayed up all night long doing our thing and playing cards. This little girl was on my mind throughout the hole night. The nest day I was invited to church with a friend from High School so me and my buzz were off to church that night. On my way home I knew what I was doing was wrong and a little girl just lost her life over it and that was pointless there was no reason for it. I said ONE prayer that night on my way home and asked God to help me get off the drugs. Thats all it took that one prayer and I no longer had to have them it was amazing. I was not saved at this time and this was not the end of my story. I still had drinking problem and was hanging out with the wrong crowd. Living life as a homosexual going to the bars and doing other things I should not have done.

After moving out of my parents and into a friends house the drinking and sleeping around got much much worse. Little did I know God still had plans for me. I had been working where I do now for a couple years and developed quite a rep for things and being loud and mouthy always in trouble with management I honestly dont know how I have my job still. A young man came to work on my line right out of homeschooling and I had some very unhealthy interests toward him right way. Being I was not a shy guy at work it did not take me long to start making my moves. Boy did God have a news flash for me there! This guy and I stated talking exchanged numbers and was talking outside of work as well. One night after work he brought up God and being saved, we talked about that for 2 nights about how Jesus died on the cross so I could someday see Heaven and have a better life IF i chose to. There were lots of questions and lots of tears, how God would ever want a guy like me that has done some unspeakable things I could not understand. Once I made up my mind sitting Indian style on my bed it was all over. With ONE prayer my life would be changed forever. Overnight God had made a huge difference in me. I went from the guy that was cursing every other word to not using those words at all. From being an out and proud homosexual to admitting it was a sin and we should turn away from it the same as we do all other sins. It was a total 180 and boy am I better person today for just asking God to come into my heart and show me how to live.

You see no matter what you are doing have done or who you are God sent his Son to die for you. No matter how far down you have fallen He can pull you back up and wash you in the Blood. This is the one true thing in life you will get for free all you have to do is say a simple prayer, admit your a sinner the same as I and ask Jesus to be your savior and live in your heart. You see Easter is the day Jesus rose from the grave to give us all a way to get to heaven a way to live the good life. Easter is the day Jesus defeated Satan. Easter is the day Jesus paved us a path to Heaven. I hope I meet all of you there one day walking in the streets of gold and living the good life with no more suffering or hurting of any kind. Now you might be better at mathematics than I (this is not saying much), but even you can not put three days and nights (even it you switch the order to the more Jewish "nights and days") between a Good Friday crucifixion and an Easter Sunday resurrection.

The Catholic tradition of Jesus dying on a Friday can be largely blamed on a misunderstanding of the word "sabbath". "Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings." - Leviticus 23:3

If you looked at this passage in Mark chapter fifteen, assuming that the "sabbath" meant "Saturday", a burial on Friday would be the only logical conclusion: "And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath, Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus." - Mark 15:42-43

But what if your idea of the sabbath always meaning the seventh day, was incorrect? What if there was more than one type of sabbath in the Bible? What if you thought of "sabbath" as meaning a "holy day when no work was allowed"? There are other sabbaths, relating to the Hebrew Feasts, described in Leviticus 23:4-44. While the Passover is not a sabbath day when no work is allowed to be done ("an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein"), there are days besides Saturday alone that are sabbath days.

So what are these other sabbaths? They deal with other Jewish holidays (holy days): "And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread ...In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. ... in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein." - Lev. 23: 6-8 "Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles. ..the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein." - Lev. 23: 34-36

If Jesus was buried, as He stated, for three days and nights, when did He die? A case can be made for a Wednesday or a Thursday crucifixion, but Friday is simply impossible, nor is it necessary once the sabbaths are fully understood.

A timeline could be made for Jesus' death on Thursday (knowing that Jesus didn't even die until 3:00pm), of Thursday night, Friday, Friday night, Saturday, Saturday night, Sunday being interrupted by the scriptures "very early in the morning". A Wednesday schedule would be Wednesday night in the tomb, Thursday, Thursday night, Friday, Friday night, Saturday (three full nights and days), and then Jesus arose sometime between 6pm Saturday and 6am Sunday.

If the crucifixion was on the Passover, it was automatically the day before a sabbath, no matter what day it was on, because the high sabbath day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread was the next day. It is worth noting that if Jesus finished His word of redemption on the Passover, it was a feast day, but not a sabbath day. Likewise, another feast day, the Feast of First Fruits, (not a sabbath day), would be the day on which Jesus rose from the grave.

A unique argument for a Thursday crucifixion comes from observing Mary Magdalene. Why did she wait until Sunday to go to the tomb to annoint Jesus' body? If Thursday was the day of the crucifixion, then Friday would have been the high sabbath, and Saturday would have been the weekly sabbath (making it impossible for her to go on Friday or Saturday), leaving Sunday as the first "working" day she could have made the trip.

"And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away..." - Mark 16:1-4a

Baptists do not celebrate his death every week. Instead we focus on His victory over death on Sunday, the Lord's Day, when He arose from the dead. Sunday is not the "Christian Sabbath", and the weekly sabbath was not mysteriously moved to Sunday from Saturday. Sunday is the Lord's Day, and we hold services in His name because He lives!

My hen turkey is starting to lay eggs I caught her on the nest today.

I am kinda starting to think both of my geese are females. They started a nest in one place but never laid any eggs, then the one I think is a female started setting in anther place. Annie my BC got into the nest and destroyed all the eggs so then the other goose went back to the original nest and started setting. I checked today and there are 4 eggs in the nest I just ain't sure who layed them. So far they have both set on a different nest. I have not had geese set before so I am not sure their mating habits. If anyone knows anything about raising geese I would love some advice.

This is Dusty's Drusilla a fawn 40% German cross. This little girl was clipped today and gave me 7oz of spinning wool, all prime not counting anything else as I only keep my prime wool. This doe has really nice color for a cross and has a TON of crimp in her wool. I am very pleased with how she is turning out so I will be breeding her soon to SWF Walley an 83% black buck that carries "e". I have thought really hard about giving up on my fawn project and only working on colors that are closer to being excepted in Giants. The way this girl looks and a couple of my Agoutis that carry "e" I dont think I can do that. It may mean less room for REWs in the barn but it may be worth it in the end. Condemning Conscience

Overcoming a Condemning Conscience

Romans 8:1
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ
Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

One of the things I have found that hinders many Christians from doing
what they should for God is a guilty conscience. If the truth were
known, everybody has done something that they regret. The reason why I
know this is because everybody is a sinner. Because everybody is a
sinner, there is not a person alive who hasn't done some sin that they
wish they could undo. Therefore, everybody is capable of having a
guilty or condemning conscience.

Before I show you how to overcome the condemning conscience, let me show
you why Christians have guilty consciences. Revelation 12:10 says, "And
I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and
strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for
the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our
God day and night." Notice this verse says that Satan is the accuser of
the brethren. Satan's accusatory actions are not only performed in
front of God, but he will also take our past and use it to attack us
personally. Satan's accusatory attack can cause us to carry a
condemning conscience.

According to the verse above there is a way that you can overcome a
condemning conscience. There are three steps that God says must be
taken in order to overcome a condemning conscience. First, a person
must get saved. When a person gets saved all of their sins are placed
under the blood of Jesus Christ. Christian, you must realize that even
though Satan accuses you to condemn your conscience, you can respond
back to him by saying that all of your sins are placed under the blood
of Jesus Christ.

Secondly, you overcome a condemning conscience by not walking after the
flesh. In other words, the best way to overcome a condemning conscience
is not to live the life the flesh would like you to live. This is why
preachers constantly preach that you should stop trying to live like the
world. Christian, when you continue to yield to the flesh, you are
feeding the conscience with things to condemn you. You will never
overcome a condemning conscience while living a fleshly life.

Last of all, the way to overcome a condemning conscience is to do the
things the Spirit of God would want you to do. Yes, serving God and
doing what God commands you to do will help you overcome your condemning
conscience. When you do right and stop doing wrong, you will have a
clear conscience. There is nothing more refreshing than knowing that
you did right. The greatest prescription for overcoming your condemning
conscience is to live according to the Scriptures.

Are you having problems with your conscience condemning you? Then take
the prescription from the verse above and follow it. You will find by
following the prescription from this verse that your conscience can be
guilt free. It will be guilt free because God promises that He is
greater than anything else in life. When we do what God commands us to
do in order to overcome the condemning conscience, then He will drive
away Satan and those thoughts that try to condemn us.

Start living right today and you will see the things that used to
condemn your conscience will be driven away. A happy life is the result
of a guilt-free conscience.

Diva

This is Dusty's Diva in all her glory. About 4-4 1/2 inches of wool, this is the coat she grew while raising a litter. She was clipped after taking these pics, and gave 12.7oz of prime wool! The only care she needs is a butt clip to keep urine scald away and I have clipped her checks to keep them out of her water bowl. Right behind her ears as a little matted but nothing serious and came right out.

I kept 2 of her bucks Eli and Enoch and Jackie has the doe from her litter. I am fixing to breed Diva again, this warm weather has her in the mood. Just gotta figure out which one of my 2 black bucks would be a better fit. Hope your all enjoying the weather God Bless!

Rabbit Feed

The last 2 batches of Manna Pro I have bought the rabbits seem to not like, I have been finding more and more on the floor under the cages. So this weekend I went to the local TSC to look at feeds, we dont have much of a selection around here. I would love to find Pen Pals but no suck luck. My choices were Producers 15% protein or Purina 16% protein, other than the 2 kinds of Manna Pro they carry. I was feeding Manna Gro 18% but with all the issues I had with loosing babies I am afraid to switch back to a high protein feed. I ended up going with the Purina its the new formula they have for Rabbit Chow in a green bag. The only drawl back I have to this so far is it has corn in it. Now I really do not know the effects of corn but when I was in 4H we would feed hole cobs of corn to our rabbits and they never had any problems so I am hoping all will be good. Purina is a good feed so I am sure if there is a big issue with corn they would not put it in the feed. If I am wrong on this please let me know! So far its been 2 days and the rabbits are eating like they have never had pellets before. Rabbits that use to be very good eaters were leaving most of the Manna Pro and are now eating like hogs again. The babies that were scratching all their feed out on the floor seem to be eating more as well. So far I could not be happier but then again its only been 2 days. I was very disappointed they stopped eating the Manna Pro I have fed that for a couple years now and they have always done well on it. I have tried a couple different things here and there but always go back to Manna Pro. So really not sure whats going on this time but the bunns seem to love the new feed and its a nice small pellet that is very green and smells good. Its starting to look like spring is right around the corner, God Bless!

While I was in High School I had tons and tons of animals then when I graduated and started hanging around the wrong crowd, doing the wrong stuff I found new homes for all my pets. Its been a long tough road but the good Lord is getting me back where I need to be. Along the way He is blessing me with me lots of new pets! I had 3 chins in High School 2 greys and 1 mosaic. I really missed those little guys so was very pleased when I found a breeder not too far from me. God Bless you all!

New Roving

This is a new roving I just got back from the mill its Icelandic and 41% Fawn Angora,its just a touch darker than in this photo. The skein in the middle is about 200 yards of sports weight yarn weighs 2.8oz. Very nice easy to spin and oh so soft. I am having a hard time but I am offering some of this for sale at $3.50 an oz. Bloomington IN show

Yesterday was my first show of the spring season and yes I forgot my camera. It was a small, very packed show room no room to walk or anything, everyone in the state must have been antsy for a rabbit show. I took 7 Giant Angora babies, Adah and Dan Dan's litter. Got some great comments on 2 of the bucks and picked which doe I will be keeping. I picked up 2 Satin Angoras for Kathy Obrakta as well a Red Buck and a Choc Agouti doe. Both are very nice, it seems I cant stay away from them LOL. I guess my Angora addiction is not any better yet, hmmm I wonder if there is a rehab program for that anywhere? I took along a basket of hand spun yarns no luck selling any but everyone wanted to touch them. Will try again at the next show I have more yarn than I will ever knit. Weather man says more snow on the way tonight, like we really need anymore but guess the good Lord says other wise. God Bless stay warm and if your lucky stay home till the snow melts!

From bunny to yarn

I have always found it kinda cool how different wool looked on the rabbit then it does when its spun, so I took some pics of bunny, batt, yarn to share. My opal EA doe had started chewing her wool so I clipped and spun it up before she ruined her hole coat.

Yarn This was my first time spinning Opal I think it really turns out a pretty color. I have been spinning alot of angora lately my angora stash is almost gone, good thing a couple bunns are ready to be clipped. One in an agouti I may start that one next.

Its snowing like crazy here just like it is almost everywhere east. Stay warm and dont get out unless you have to. If your traveling to the PA convention be very careful! God Bless be safe!

The baby I was asking about is a little older now so I tried to get some new pics. The questionable kit is a doe and with all these photo shoots we are going to have give her famous name, maybe Marilyn. Here are a couple more pics of her.

She likes it better on top of the show table better than on the towel. This next pic is for Lisa. The rabbit in the corner is the choc mommy of this litter. Notice the glow to her eye? This is the only time i have ever noticed this must be caused by the flash on the camera. I have never noticed if any of my other colored rabbits had a glow of the eye when I took pics of them.

This last pic is a hat and scarf I made from some of my black angora. A friend at work has bought this set for his girlfriend for V-day. I am having a hard time giving up this scarf I really like angora in seed stitch! God Bless hope your getting the warmer temps we are!

I got an email from a dear friend of mine today she has gotten some bad news. I would like everyone to keep this friend in their prayers. The good Lord knows the need so I wont mention any names He knows who the prayers are for and whats needed.

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

Some things we never understand and we are left asking why. At those times we need to remember verses like this. Remember his thoughts are not our thoughts and his ways are not our ways. No matter what we go through in life it is always for our greater good. Some of these things we will never understand until the day we meet our Lord in the sky. You also have to remember the power of prayer. God heals and fixes so many things because of the power of prayer. If we only have faith the size of a mustard seed we can move mountains. With that same amount of faith we can change everything going on in our lives. Remember the stories in Matthew about Jesus feeding the thousands with so little bread a couple fishes? If He can do this image all the other things He can take care for us! With God on your side there are no things we can not overcome.

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hill, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth the will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. Color Help?

I have a litter of German cross babies that have me a little puzzled so I was hoping some of you could help me. They are out of a Black buck and a choc doe. The black father is out of a choc tort and a REW the Choc doe I have no clue, I dont believe her pedigree is correct. I have 1 REW baby and the others I am thinking could be seal but not sure so I tried to get some pics.

The brown cast did not come out in this pic as much as I had hoped.

The kit on the left is from another litter and I know this one is black. The kit on the right is the one in question. I really hope the brown cast came through on these pics enough to tell. I have not posted pics of bunnies in a long time. So tonight while I was out grooming a couple I took a couple pics. Yes I was grooming that means I am planning on doing some showing this spring! We will see if everything works out so I can.

This is Donatella an Opal English Angora. She is my latest rescue bunny and has turned out be very nice! I am in love with her wool and color so much I got a buck to breed her to. We have one little blue EA buck that I have yet to name. Pic below

This is one of my favorites. Dusty's Sunny Dayz, she is 71.5% German and my favorite color! Her mommy died during labor and this is the only baby that lived out of the 2 the had. I dyed this yarn yesterday while I was watching my niece and nephew. They were playing on the wii so other than them fighting over what game they wanted to play and how was controller 1 it was rather easy.

I have been busy spinning yarns that I am hoping I will be able to sell at rabbit shows and fiber fests this year. I will be dying some of it later this week, more than likely solid colors since I have not figured out this hand painting thing quite yet. God Bless keep those bunns warm!

Today we got about 3 inches of snow and its really cold, tomorrow will be colder. I am not a fan of the snow at all, well its ok as long as I dont have to drive in it, that just sucks! Mom and dad are both out in the snow all day with work so I have it really lucky compared to them. Mom delivers mail and Dad works for the country hwy. He never gets home till really late when its snowing. I got a couple pics of Annie my Border Collie to warm your hearts hope you enjoy, I am busy spinning! Stay warm and God Bless!

There are still 2 skeins drying after setting the twist, the 2 projects I have on needles, and 2 small skeins sitting on the computer desk I still need to put away. Convention Skeins

Ok so this post is way late but I have been doing some cleaning and organizing of my stash and just found these, so I thought I would post a pic now. I also have way more yarn spun up than I ever thought I did! Better late than never I guess.

The colored skein is from a black French German cross it got 6th place not sure how many there was altogether. The dyed skein is pure German and got took 2nd. Both skeins got very good comments. I thought I done very well for my first skein contest. Hope all of you had a very good Christmas! God Bless

BFL Splash

I got some white BFL locks from Out of the Blue If you have not visited that site yet make sure you do. Anyways back to the locks. I ran the tips over one of my hand carders to open them up a little and carded some white onto my carder.

Dyes some of the locks sapphire blue and violet. The blue shows up better than the violet in this pic but the locks took dye VERY well.

I then "hand painted" them onto my carder (sorry I should have got a pic of that) and ran it through the carder 3 times.

I still have some more to play with then I will be spinning. If I remember I will post pics of the finished yarn before I knit it into whatever it becomes. I have really liked working with this BFL I may have to rethink my sheep thoughts. God Bless!

I am finally back on line at home and everything is working well. My computer was really old so when they redone the phone lines and I needed a new DSL modem I had to get some kinda card put on my computer well I went ahead and bought a new rebuilt computer instead so I am all up to date now. Works like a dream, fast, smooth, takes no time at all to surf and find things now its great! So now its time to see how it does with uploading pics for my blog.

This is Rambouillet, Angora, and bronze Angelina that I blended on my drum carder. I had a hard time getting the angora to blend in, not sure if its just cause I am new at this or if its because the angora was from first clips so it was very fine, anyways I did not get as much angora in it as I wanted.

This is pure angora that I had dyed. I was blending it on hand carders, the drum carder was much faster and easier. I have more of this to get carded and have wondered if I should not blend it with some white wool and add angelina to get a multi colored sparkly batt. God Bless hope your all staying warm!

First Snow & Drum Carder!

I took this pic this morning before I left for work it is the first snow here in Southeastern Indiana we got about an inch. It was all melted away before I got off work this afternoon.

I picked up this Louet Drum Carder from my friend Joyce this weekend. So far I am really enjoying using it. I have carded a couple batts one I blended in some Firestar for shine and blended 2 colors of dyed angora in another. I got some Angelina in mail today for blending as well. Wondered who I get bringing animals home from? Its from my Dad without a doubt! Friday night he went to his coon hunters club for a hunt and he brought home another puppy! This time I am very excited, for once its not a coon hound, not even a hound at all! Her name is Annie and yes this one is defiantly mine LOL.

Annie is a Border Collie! The cutest little thing and smart too, she already knows her name. I took her to my brothers today to pick turnips if she wondered to far I called her by name and she came running!

Sheep Talk!

There has been some talk around the house about getting some sheep for both wool and meat. It is not something that will happen soon because I will have to build a small barn and fence off part of the pasture for grazing. I am only wanting 3-4 sheep that would include a ram and a couple ewes. That will give more wool than I need so would have some for sale and give us lambs to put in the freezer. I am thinking Babydoll Southdown sheep A small easy keeping sheep that will still give plenty of fine wool for spinning and enough meat for the 3 of us and a lamb or 2 to sell. I will know more once I spin some Southdown wool that I just finished washing. I have been saying for along time I wanted Rambouillets but they are rather large so would need more grazing room, and would give way more wool than I would ever need. Another possibility would be Icelandics or Cheviots but the Cheviots I have been around were always kinda crazy so I don't see that one happening at all. Thinking all kinds of thoughts about sheep and barns right now. God Bless!
